Wakesurfer on Lake Ullswater

Wakesurfing is an off-shoot of wakeboarding.

It's a surface watersport where a rider trails behind a boat, riding the boat's wake without being directly pulled by the boat.

After getting up on the boat's wake (normally by use of a tow rope) wakesurfers then drop the rope and 'surf' the wake waves.

Wakesurfing uses special boards, designed specifically for wakes.

A great way for children and adults to start on the water!

We offer kneeboards for anyone who wants to get out on the water but isn't quite ready for full-on wakesurfing.  For children 7 years and over. The advantage of kneeboarding is an easier learning curve and a sense of being closer to the water which is great when you're just beginning your board adventures!

useful info...
who can do it?

Wakesurfing can be done by anyone. If you are a beginner please allow a minimum of 30 minutes for your first session. There's no real age limit but we like to suggest that  8 years old is a good age for children to start learning. For children 7 years and older we offer Kneeboarding as a first experience. Please note that a parent or guardian must always be present when children are participating in any activity at Ullswater Wake & Surf and parents accept full responsibility.

How long are sessions, and do I need to book in advance?

Our sessions can be booked in blocks from 30 mins to 4 hour sessions. Our boat can carry  up to 8 people which can be a mix of riders and spectators. When you book please allow enough time in the water for each rider - this means don't book a 1 hour session if there's 6 people who want to wakesurf as there won't be enough time for everyone, allow at least 30 mins per person, if in doubt please email us at info@wakeandsurf.co.uk

Please book in advance as we get really busy.

If you are planning on booking a block of sessions, please ask about our multi-session deals!

Please make sure you arrive with us at least 20 minutes before your booked time slot.

Can i make a group booking?

We can take up to 8 people on our wakesurfing boat.

Can my family come and watch?

We can take up to 8 people on our wakesurfing boat - this can be a mix of people including spectators and riders if you choose. Or it can be all wakesurfers. The choice is yours.

what gear do i need?

We have everything you'll need from westuits to boards to bouyancy aids. All equipment is included in the price of your session. All we recommend is that you bring your 'swimmies' and towel to get dry afterwards! It's also worth making sure you have something warm to wear afterwards.

Where can I Park

We are based at Waterside House Campsite here where you will find plenty of parking available.

Please make sure you arrive with us at least 20 minutes before your booked time slot.

WHERE can I get changed?

We are based at Waterside House Campsite where there are changing and shower facilities available.

The campsite also has a shop and pop-up café for breakfast, lunch and cake by the lake!

Weather questions...

We wakesurf in all weathers! The only time we will cancel a session is if we regard the conditions as dangerous. You can find out more about our cancellation policy here.

Can we stay nearby?

Yes, very close! We are based at Waterside House Campsite right on the water's edge - it's an ideal base for exploring the Lakes. There's camping, glamping, Tipi and Pod hire available.

There are also lots of places to stay in the Lake District see here.
